Mon. Holiday

Tue. Students will read and discuss Ch. 10 Lesson 1 and explain what drove the colonists to battle in 1835. Students will complete Ch. 10 Lesson 1 Quiz.

Wed. Class will grade Ch. 10 Lesson 1 Quiz. Students will read and discuss Lesson 2 of Ch. 10 and be able to identify what military victories the Army of the People gained in late 1835. Students will complete Ch. 10 Lesson 2 Quiz.

Thu. ETCADA

Fri. Class will grade Ch. 10 Lesson 2 quiz. Students will read and discuss Lesson 3 of Ch. 10 and discuss how the views of Texans toward independence changed in early 1836. Students will complete Ch. 10 Lesson 3 Quiz.

Tue. Grade Ch. 9 quick quizes 1,2, and 3. Discuss Ch. 9 Lesson 3 and enter notes into “Time Toast” program. Students will complete Self Check Questions as further review for Ch. 9 Test on Wednesday.

Wed. Chapter 9 Test.

Thur. ETCADA

Fri. Students will divide into two separate groups. One group will be the “War Faction” and one group will represent the “Peace Faction” of the Texas Revolution. Each group will quickly research reasons for their positions and debate those positions with the other group.

Mon. Students will complete research oral reports of important people in Ch. 9. Students will read Ch. 9 lesson 2.

Tue. Students will use the Guided Reading Activity worksheet as a note taking tool. As students discuss the lesson, they will create organized notes of the the content of Ch. 9 lesson 2 on the Timetoast timeline. Students will complete the lesson 2 quick quiz.

Wed. Grade lesson 2 quick quiz. Students will use the Guided Reading Activity as a note taking tool. Students will create organized notes of the content of Lesson 3 on Timetoast. Students will complete Lesson 3 quick quiz.

Fri. Grade lesson 3 quick quiz. Students will complete lessons 1,2, and 3 Self Check Questions as a review for Ch. 9 Test on Monday.

Mon. The class will discuss Ch. 9 lesson 1 and answer the essential question of why do conflicts develop among different groups of people. The students will create a timeline about the events that led up to the Texas Revolution. We will grade lesson 1 quiz. Students will be assigned people or events to research and present their findings to the class.

Tue. Students will read and discuss Ch. 9 lesson 2 and create a timeline of more events that help lead to the Texas Revolution. Complete lesson 2 Quiz.

Wed. Grade lesson 2 quiz and turn in. Students will read and discuss Ch. 9 lesson 3 and continue to create a timeline of important events leading to the Texas Revolution. Complete lesson 3 quiz. Complete research reports for Friday.

Thur. ETCADA

Fri. Grade lesson 3 quiz. Students will present research reports to the class.

Tue. Students will complete vocabulary words that pertain to Ch. 9.

Wed. Students will read and discuss Ch. 9 section 1 and explain what caused tensions to rise between the settlers of Texas and the Mexican government. Students will complete Ch. 9 Lesson 1 review.

Thu. ETCADA

Fri. Students will grade Ch. 9 Lesson 1 review. Then, read and discuss lesson 2 and discuss the events that led to the Turtle Bayou Resolutions.

Objectives: Students will learn about other empresarios that came to Texas and learn about the men and women of Stephen F. Austin’s first colony.

Mon. The students will review what we learned about Moses and Stephen F. Austin and discuss the difficulties Austin faced in the early stages of forming a colony. Students will complete study guide 8.1.

Tue. Grade study guide 8.1. Students will read Ch. 8 section 2 and discuss how the new Mexican Constitution affected the colonist and learn about other empresarios that came to Texas. Complete study guide 8.2.

Wed. Grade study guide 8.2. Students will read Ch. 8 section 3 and be able to identify some of the original colonists in Austin’s first colony and discuss how they contributed to the colony. Complete study guide 8.3.

Objectives: Students will know how Moses Austin and Stephen F. Austin became involved in the colonization of Texas.

Tue. Students will read and discuss Ch. 8 Lesson 1 and be able to describe Moses Austin’s plan for Anglo American settlements in Texas. Students will complete Lesson 1 study guide.

Wed. Grade Lesson 1 study guide. Students will read and discuss Ch. 8 lesson 2 and be able to explain what Mexico did to affect who could colonize Texas and how much land they could buy. Complete Ch. 8 lesson 2 study guide.
